Behold, in all of it's mediocrity, the 2008 Scion xB. Finished in lovely purple paint, it boasts many features that do things. This particularly model boasts an anti-theft feature where the car doesn't move due to being run out of oil. Pretty clever stuff for an economy car company.
EDIT: Apparently, I didn't convey this very well. This is a flip car. I bought it dirt cheap with a blown motor. Once Thanksgivings over, I'll get the motor in and put it up for sale quickly. Therefore, it doesn't matter much how good it is, it'll make me good money. However, I kind of like it so far. It's no Mazda 3 and certainly no STi, but it'll do it's purpose well.
However, I've already bought a new Toyota 2.4 I4, same one from the Camry, which will be going in shortly; Most likely sometime after thanksgiving when I've got time to work with it.
Regardless of it's one major fault, everything else is in really great condition. After a quick clean-up and vacuum, this car will be seriously nice. It's got all the original floor mats, trunk mats, cargo nets, even the original Owners' Manual, all untouched. It's sporting right over 90k and will make some elderly person a nice little car.
It's strange how excited I am over the little scamp. It's the newest thing I've owned by a couple years, but I really dig it's quirkyness.
Ironically, I saw this while I was at the shop !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . It's an original Scion xB that's also in for a new engine. This one was pretty shit though.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
"Shit? What's he talking about? That doesn't look bad."
He's got the manual on me, though. I'll give him that. I really like the idea of the original Scion xB, but it's just weird in person. Cars shouldn't be as flat as this one is. And the trunk's terrible. It's the only hatchback with worse trunk space than a comparable econo-box sedan.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with my purchase. I'm curious to see how it drives. And like all of them, it'll be for safe quickly after that.

Apparently I didn't convey this well in the post, but I'm flipping this car. I'll likely have a 1-2 months, so it doesn't matter if it's any good. It'll make me good money.
Also, I really like the interior. It's quirky and weird.

How do you run out of oil?

I hate to admit it, but I kinda like how the second gen looks.
I'd probably drive a silver one with black wheels...

Pretty smart, actually. I'm curious - how many hours does it take to swap out the engine in something like that?

I didn't. I bought it this way.

Likely not him - the previous owner.

They do look pretty neat on 5-spokes. It would be cooler if it was any good performance-wise, but whatever.
I'm sure it'd be more fun with a stick too, but it's easier to sell this way.

I know. It was a question that was framed in a state of disbelief. How did the PREVIOUS owner run out of oil?

The book called out 15 hours, but I'm betting my father (experienced mechanic/shop owner) and I can get it done in about 8-9. It's just a bit cramped in there.
Since it's a full engine swap, we don't foresee anything much that'll stop us.

Ah, got it.
It belonged to the previous owner's daughter. Apparently the messed up tightening the oil filter on and she 'saw the idiot light too late.' His words.
Besides that though, it looks like she took good care of it.

Haha that's what ever car I've ever boughten has been for, even the S2000.
I'm sure it's neat what Tavarish does with his cars, buying eclectic, neat ones for some profit. But I'm in it for bigger profit, which means sometimes you have to buy boring cars.

Damn, if I had a place to work on cars, I'd teach myself and just do that all the time.

I'm definitely fortunate to have the dad I do. Whenever I move out-of-state, I won't be able to do this much anymore.
However, I'm certainly jelly of the FiST.

Dude heck yeah! Good luck on the project. Those are so simple to swap engines once the sub frame is down

Hey, our Odyssey ran on barely any oil for about six months...we took it to a dealer for oil change and either they didn't remember to replace it or it was just all consumed...but anyways, it clattered but didn't seize (Japanese engineering!—no, just luck...) but we ended up with a new J35 anyway, and it does drive better...
